Spring Break is coming to an end in a few short hours. I had intended the week to be just a whirlwind of relaxing and doing absolutely nothing to cleanse my brain, but instead I ended up being sick the whole time so now I feel a little cheated. The one bright spot of the week was getting to go to the rodeo to see KISS!! It was just amazing to see how those really old guys balanced on their ridiculously tall shoes. It was great to see all these cowboys walking around the rodeo with their faces painted like KISS. Only in Texas.
My conference went pretty well. The best presentation was actually given by my professor, he was able to include videos of actual clients, which makes much more of an impact than those scripted performances normally shown in those types of videos. One moment that surprised me is I ran into a friend from high school. I had no idea that he was also studying to be an MFT! Being in Austin made me miss living there so much. I was able to hit my usual food places; Kerbey Lane, Trudy's (I will admit that we had a mex-mart before going back to the conference, but it was worth it!), and Sao Paulo's. I'm so glad I was able to stay with Caty because we had lots of catching up to do. We had a fun date night when we went to the Highball. It is a beautiful place that has a very classy 50s feel. It has karaoke rooms, a bowling alley, a stage for music performances, and a dining area/bar. The food and drinks were really yummy. As soon as I ordered the lemonade the waiter pointed out that was the strongest drink they have....Austin has a way of bringing out the drinker in me...We then ended up going to the dueling piano bar on 6th and some other bar across 35 to meet law school friends. Friday night the people in our program all went out to dinner at an italian restaurant and then went to 6th. It was fun to have them experience it since a lot had never been there. We are a bunch that know how to have a good time!
Well kids...back to the grind. Hope everyone has a good week!
Man that sounds awesome! I'm sad that it didn't work out for me to meet ya'll at the piano bar--Pete's right? I took Leela there for her 21st but I haven't been back since!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you got to go to Austin and have a good time :) Did you paint your face for the KISS concert, too?
