I have always regretted not keeping a journal, so I think it is finally time to start writing down my random adventures so I can relive them down the road. Always remember: live every moment like you are making a memory!

Life Update
I think it is about time I finally write in this thing. I don't know why I procrastinate, but I guess life just comes and sweeps us up sometimes. The semester more than half-way over and I seriously can't believe another semester of grad school will be under my belt soon. Let me break it down for you
School
I absolutely love grad school. I wish more undergrad classes were at this level of learning because everyone should experience at one time or another. It is all discussion based so we are constantly learning from one another, networking, and actively getting excited about our future careers. The best part of this semester is that I am in practicum, which consists of doing therapy with another student as a co-therapist, while the professor and other classmates watch behind the mirror, then we all discuss and debate how to handle whatever issues come up. So far I've only had one client, but it is so different actually doing it rather than just reading about it. I feel we all bring our own individual strengths and I'm slowly learning what I excel at (reflecting, using humor, summarizing) and what I need to work on. It has also been helpful watching other sessions to compare what they actually do to what I think I'd do. It feels like such a solid team and I look forward to getting more clients soon!!
Work
I'm still substitute teaching, mostly with deaf ed, and the kids make it worth it. It made my day last week, I subbed at the middle school for the first time this semester and all the fifth graders from last year that are now 6th graders ran up to hug me and got super excited. I, personally, don't remember any sub that I wanted to hug or even liked at all. Plus I am getting a lot of ASL practice which is always a positive.
Friends
It has been hard getting together with everyone this year, but I know that we are all crazy busy. Sometimes it is just hard because I miss the days when we saw each other all the time, everyday at school, and we totally took it for granted. My favorite times are big group dinners or events, like going to the Renaissance Festival with everyone or to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (which deserves its own post). It is a really exciting time though because I am in two of my best friend's weddings coming up next year so there is planning and dress shopping!!
Other than that I'm still volunteering, which I love, the kids brighten up my week because they are just so warm and loving even though some have been through some horrible personal tragedies. They inspire me to tackle whatever challenges come my way. In the world of entertainment, my favorite songs right now are FU by Cee Lo Green, Little Lion Man/The Cave by Mumford & Sons. As for TV, Supernatural is still reigning as my favorite show on air right now, but the new shows this fall have left me feeling completely underwhelmed. I'm hoping next year has a better batch of goodness. In the world of movies I am just counting down until Inception comes out on dvd! I can't wait for the newest Harry Potter movie and I still need to see the Social Network, Paranormal Activity 2 and who knows what else. In literature, I'm completely obsessed with the Hunger Games series. They are supposed to be "young adult" novels, but that is BS, with themes about war, reality, social media, love, etc it makes for an interesting read for adults as well. They are being made into a movie series and I can't wait! Well that is all for now, but I am going to try and update this thing more often because with my memory I'll need something to look back on.
